BRANDON PRITCHETT IS A LOCAL TOURNAMENT ANGLER WHO HAS OVER 35 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE BASS FISHING AND COMPETING IN TOURNAMENTS AT ALL LEVELS SUCH AS B.A.S.S., FLW, MLF AND COUNTLESS OTHER TRAILS AND TEAM TOURNAMENT FORMATS. HE WILL FOCUS ON USING TODAY’S TECHNOLOGY TO LOCATE AND CATCH OFFSHORE BASS BY SHOWING YOU HOW TO UTILIZE GOOGLE EARTH AND NAVIONICS. ADDITIONALLY, HE WILL SHOW YOU WHAT TO LOOK FOR USING CONTOUR LINES TO FIND THE JUICE WHILE MAPPING. COME ON OUT AND JOIN US FOR A FUN EVENING AND LEARN HOW TO USE TODAY’S TECHNOLOGY’S WHILE SITTING IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME THAT WILL SAVE YOU HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF WASTED TIME ON THE WATER AND HELP YOU IMPROVE ON YOUR CATCH. OTHER TOPICS WILL BE BAIT SELECTIONS, ROD AND REEL SELECTIONS, AND TYPES OF LINES TO USE FOR THE DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES.

TOM REISDORF, AS BEEN FLY FISHING SINCE 1966. HE GREW UP FISHING IN THE ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS OF UPSTATE NY. AND WAS A FORMER STATE CHAIRMAN OF THE VIRGINIA COUNCIL OF TROUT UNLIMITED, AND FORMER FLY FISHING AND FLY TYING INSTRUCTOR FOR THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF GAME AND INLAND FISHERIES AND BECOMING AN OUTDOORS WOMAN PROGRAM. HE IS THE FORMER THE MANAGER OF ANGLER’S LANE SINCE AND STILL WORK PART TIME. HE HAS GUIDED CLIENTS FOR TROUT AND SMALLMOUTH BASS AROUND VIRGINIA FOR DECADES. BEGINNING FLY FISHING WILL CONSIST OF LEARNING ABOUT RODS, REELS, FLY LINES, LEADERS, TIPPETS, BACKING AND BASIC KNOTS. THEN LEARNING ABOUT WHAT IS IN A FLY VEST OR PACK, FLY BOXES AND FLIES, GADGETS, ETC. A CASTING SESSION WILL FINISH THE CLASS.

MATT KNOX
, VIRGINIA DEER PROJECT COORDINATOR FOR THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF GAME AND INLAND FISHERIES, WILL PRESENT VARIOUS ASPECTS OF THE WHITETAIL DEER’S WORLD. THIS TALK WILL FOCUS PRIMARILY ON WHITETAIL RESEARCH STUDIES THAT SHED LIGHT ON TOPICS SUCH AS A REPRODUCTION, HOME RANGES, DAILY ACTIVITY PERIODS, RUTTING ACTIVITIES, ANTLER DEVELOPMENT, VISION, HEARING, FOOD REQUIREMENTS, AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR. KNOWING MORE ABOUT THE GAME YOU PURSUE CAN INCREASE THE ODDS OF SCORING BUT WILL ALSO EXPAND YOUR APPRECIATION OF THIS INCREDIBLE ANIMAL.

THIS TALK WILL HELP GUIDE YOU TO IMPROVING HABITAT QUALITY AND QUANTITY FOR ALL WILDLIFE INCREASING YOUR HUNTING OPPORTUNITY REGARDLESS OF THE SIZE OF YOUR PROPERTY.

, BIOLOGIST FOR THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE RESOURCES AND AVID HUNTER WILL COVER THE BASICS OF HOW TO GET STARTED IN THE EXCITING SPORT OF HUNTING. IF YOU OR YOUR CHILDREN ARE INTERESTED IN HUNTING BUT AREN’T QUITE SURE WHERE TO START THEN THIS SEMINAR IS JUST WHAT YOU NEED. WE WILL DISCUSS HOW TO GET THE REQUIRED HUNTER EDUCATION CLASSES NECESSARY TO GET A HUNTING LICENSES, THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFETY, TIPS FOR SCOUTING, DIFFERENT TYPES OF GAME ANIMALS, CHOICES OF FIREARMS AND HUNTING GEAR OPTIONS. THIS IS AN INTERACTIVE SESSION AND QUESTIONS ARE WELCOME.  
ELK HUNTING – Room 170
AVID ELK HUNTER DAN WITT KNOWS MANY HUNTERS HAVE DREAMED OF ONE DAY HARVESTING A MAJESTIC ELK IN THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS. IT HAS BECOME OVERWHELMING AND DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR SOMEONE TO BEGIN PLANNING AN ELK HUNT. THIS SEMINAR WILL COVER RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO START THE PLANNING PROCESS. DAN WILL ALSO TOUCH ON OTHER ASPECTS OF ELK HUNTING SUCH AS HUNTING TECHNIQUES, CALLS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT. ANOTHER FOCUS OF THE SEMINAR WILL BE PLANNING A DO-IT-YOURSELF HUNT AND GETTING PHYSICALLY PREPARED FOR HUNTING ELK IN THE RUGGED ROCKY MOUNTAINS.

THIS TRAINING IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN. PARENTAL DISCRETION IS ADVISED AND PARENTAL SUPERVISION OF MINORS WILL BE REQUIRED. MARKO GALBREATH IS A RETIRED POLICE SERGEANT OF 22 YEARS. HE WAS A SWAT TEAM MEMBER AND HOSTAGE NEGOTIATION TEAM COMMANDER. THIS TRAINING IS FROM PRIMARY SOURCE INFORMATION AND IS NOT SUGARCOATED OR EXAGGERATED. HE WILL BRING HIS EXPERIENCE TEACHING ON SITUATIONAL AWARENESS AND KNOWING YOUR SURROUNDINGS; EXPLAINING THE HISTORY AND DYNAMICS OF ACTIVE SHOOTER SCENARIOS. FOR VARIOUS REASONS, VERY FEW LOGS FROM TREES TAKEN DOWN INSIDE AN URBAN AREA ARE CAPABLE OF BEING SOLD TO A TRADITIONAL SAWMILL. TOO MANY HISTORIC TREES IN LYNCHBURG ARE LEFT TO ROT. HE INVESTED IN THE LARGEST PORTABLE BANDSAW MILL MADE IN AMERICA TO DO HIS PART IN FINDING SUSTAINABLE USES FOR THIS WOOD.

HE IS A NATURALIST FOR THE WARD BURTON WILDLIFE FOUNDATION, AND HE IS ALSO NATURALIST FOR THOMAS ROAD OUTPOST, A CAMPING MINISTRY OF THOMAS ROAD BAPTIST CHURCH. IN ADDITION TO THIS, HE IS AN AVID WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER, SPORTSMAN, NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION EDUCATOR, AND OUTDOOR WRITER. WITH COUNTLESS OF HIS PHOTOGRAPHS AND STORIES PUBLISHED IN MULTIPLE MAGAZINES, YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS HIS TIPS ON WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY, IN ADDITION TO LEARNING NEW THINGS ABOUT THE OUTDOORS.
